Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.<\/p>\n<p>WordCamps are open to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.com\/\">WordPress.com<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/\">WordPress.org<\/a>\u00a0users\u00a0alike.<\/p>\n<p>So what is a WordCamp? WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/\">WordPress<\/a>, the free and open source personal publishing software\u00a0that powers over 25 million sites on the web.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/central.wordcamp.org\/\">WordCamps<\/a>\u00a0come in all different flavors, based on the local communities that produce them, but in general, WordCamps include sessions on how to use WordPress more effectively, beginning\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/\">plugin<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/themes\/\">theme<\/a>\u00a0development, advanced techniques, security, etc.<\/p>\n<p>WordCamps are attended by people ranging from blogging beginners to professional WordPress developers and consultants, and usually combine scheduled programming with unconference sessions and other activities.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve never blogged or built a website then please don\u2019t be put off or intimidated, you\u2019ll find lots of people happy to show you how to get started.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely if you\u2019re a dyed in the wool coder or developer then you\u2019ll find like-minds who you can chew the syntax with over a beer or three.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WordCamp is a conference that focuses on everything WordPress.
