What does Social Bite stand for?
Social Bite is a social enterprise dedicated to ending homelessness in Scotland.
They run six cafes in Scotland – three in Edinburgh, two in Glasgow and one in Aberdeen. They run a “Pay it Forward” system where diners can buy food and drink in advance for homeless people.
About a quarter of the Social Bite employees were once homeless themselves.
Social Bite has made the headlines with high-profile visits from George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio, among others.
In December, Social Bite will run the follow-up to last year’s Sleep in the Park event. The 2017 event raised over £4m for tackling homelessness.
This year the event takes place in 4 Scottish cities – Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen.
